Covid-19 survival kit

list of what I would put in my survival kit:
  • canned food
  • water bottles and jug
  • laptop, phone with chargers
  • art supplies
  • makeup
  • sudoku book
  • puzzles
  • fan
  • candles
  • cleaning supplies
  • headphones
  • rosary beads
  • my dogs (pets cannot contract covid-19)
  • comfy seat (where I will be doing most of my sitting)
  • books
In my current situation, this is affecting me a
lot. Switching to online classes is eating away all of my time since professors are substituting in class dissolution with huge amounts of written work. Other than all of the school work, staying in the house has been tough, but it's the safest option right now.

1. This being our first online project, how did our new format change your experience of working in this class?
Personally, it has been pretty difficult to get motivated in doing art projects because I haven't been in the right head space. Being at Tyler really helped me get motivated to do art and be creative. So I guess it has changed for the worse, but I am more than wiling to try to make this work. I think that the hardest part will be not being able to call you over and get a quick fix answer about my question.

2. How did you challenge yourself creatively, conceptually and/or technically in the making of this piece?
This website and aspect of 3D in a computer was very difficult for me. That is why I picked something pretty easy to create. But using the the website as a whole was challenging for me. the arms on the chairs were also difficult for me to perfect, but I am happy with the end result of them.

3. Were there elements that made the completion of this piece either more difficult or felt not challenging enough?
I don't think that anything about this project was too difficult or not challenging enough, given this whole transition to online. Yes, the website was challenging for me, but overall, I think that it was a good balance.

4. Reflect on the project critique: was the feedback you received helpful? Be specific about why or why not.
Yes, the feedback was helpful but I didn't get much of it, which is okay I don't mind. Someone suggested that I make the digit in the chair a little less prominent, which I agreed with. some one else suggested that I should give it a pattern and while I like that idea, I also like the smooth simplicity of this piece.

5. Was there anything that your professor could have done to better support you thought this project?
No, this is a very difficult transition and it is stressful for everyone. So the fact that she was available during the class time in general for us to ask questions was helpful.

6. Please share any other thoughts.
I am excited to start premier

Blog 4 Response

Composing Movement:
This video discussed a lot of different details and fundamentals of film. I originally thought that it would be talking about paintings when the narrator asked the question about visual interest. The whole movement concept of the video was very cool. It gave me a different perspective on movement since it was being explained in film terms. last, the detail in each scene and talking about the way that the camera moved added extra input which I didn't pay close attention to, but will in the future.

Editing Space and Time:
For this video, I don't have too too much to say. This is because I don't make videos myself or watch many animated movies or videos, so I don't edit or consider time in making it. that being said, it was cool to be able to see what different editors do in comparison to others, and sometimes mimic each others style. I especially liked the attention to detail when he talked about scenes ending. the cuts in between scenes were neat to hear about while watching them and hearing about the process involved.

How to structure a video essay:
This whole idea of "F for fake" got a little confusing to me. Personally I tried to understand what it meant but I couldn't wrap my hear around it. However, I thought that the "and then" sequence that he was talking about was very interesting. It is so true how almost every movie has a "and then" multiple times now that I think about it. I will definitely be keeping this in mind when I watch another movie.

The poetry of details:
when watching this, It made me realize how much everyone on the crew of a movie takes into consideration the most minute details. watching the scenes from one specific film and how Lynne Ramsay put every shot in perspective was very cool to see. the repetition of details was also interesting to me, because it really does show the viewer how important that part actually is.

Project 2 & response question

1. In what way did you change your process to make a piece that was site specific?

This aspect of the project was very challenging for me. I had multiple different idea in different settings and on different sites. In the end I did decide to put it on my fan, and had to change the sizing to make sure that the moon phases would fit on each of the spokes at their largest width.

2. How did you challenge yourself creatively, conceptually and/or technically in the making of this piece? If you did not feel challenged is there something you would do differently if you were to do it again?

Although my design, technically, was not very challenging, but very easy to create, I felt challenged in the other aspects. Conceptually this was difficult for me because I was trying to think of cool things that could work on my fan but nothing felt as interesting as having the moons on each spoke. Creatively, I brainstormed different areas in my house with I could do a piece but since I liked the element of movement so much I though that it would be cool to do something on my fan.

3. Were there elements that made the completion of this piece either more difficult or felt not challenging enough?

in completing this piece, the actual installing portion of it was challenging for me. But that also could be because of my location and object that I pit them on.

4. Reflect on the critique and consider how your experience was different from the first: was the feedback you received helpful? Be specific about why or why not.

There honestly wasn't much said during my critique because My piece wasn't hard to figure out, nor did I have a super deep meaning behind it. But from the feedback that I did receive, I agree with. I am happy with the piece, but as people mentioned I should have changed up the directions of the crescent moons, I feel that would make my piece stronger.

5. Please share any other thoughts.

I was very happy with my feedback, and I appreciated the compliments and constructive criticism.
